Buffalo Blue cheese is a recent creation of our family dairy of Garrotxa and Cabra Blau cheeses, located in the Catalan valley of La Garrotxa. The cattle are nourished by marshes pastures blessed by Tramuntana wind, providing salty nounces to their food and, therefore, to the cheese resulting from this aromatic and fresh milk.

Carefully handmade, this amazing blue cheese made from pasteurized buffalo milk is rare in Spain. With a characteristic texture that is crumbled while being creamy, it has an intense flavor, typical of a blue cheese, but not sharp. The paste presents the typical green-blue veins due to the action of the penicilium roqueforti.

Ideal as an appetizer or on a cheese board, splendid meat sauces can be made with this cheese. Pairs perfectly with sweet white wines, mistela, Garnatxa wines and sweet cava. Buffalo milk is rich in calcium, potassium and vitamins A and D. The cheeses in this milk have less lactose than the rest.

Awarded the Silver Medal in 2016 at the World Cheese Awards.
